Drinking water was reportedly found to be contaminated with hydrocarbons a week after residents in new homes in Hackney Wick reported smelling the odour of nail varnish.
Residents in up to 175 flats were provided with bottled drinking water by developer Taylor Wimpey who are investigating the cause of the contamination with Thames Water.
Leigh Day product safety lawyer Tina Patel said:
“Hydrocarbons are used for industrial purposes and reports of them being detected in a drinking water tank are worrying. We hope this issue is resolved quickly.”
