Football coach faces further abuse charges

The CPS has stated that Barry Bennell faces further child sexual abuse charges

The Crown Prosecution Service has said that former professional football coach Barry Bennell, has been charged with 14 counts of non-recent sexual abuse against boys aged 11 to 14 years.

The alleged offences took place between 1983 and 1990.

Bennell is due to appear before South Cheshire Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 28 June in relation to these charges.

On 9 May 2017 Bennell was charged with 21 counts of non-recent child sexual abuse following an investigation by Cheshire Police.

On 9 March 2017 Bennell was charged with four counts of indecent assault, and on 7 March 2017 he was charged with eight counts of non-recent child sexual abuse.

On 29 November 2016 Bennell was charged with eight offences of non-recent child sexual abuse.
