Legal Secretary – Clinical Negligence Department

Owing to internal growth, Leigh Day is urgently seeking to appoint a Legal Secretary in a newly created role within the Clinical Negligence department. The role will support Partners and the team. Main responsibilities will include production of accurate documents from dictation, verbal or written instructions; utilising the case management system; drafting letters and emails; liaising with clients, experts, counsel and other solicitors; preparing/checking bundles and general administrative support including, filing, managing diaries, arranging meetings and conferences.

To be successful, candidates must have relevant legal secretarial experience. Relevant claimant, litigation secretarial experience within clinical negligence will be highly advantageous, though not essential. S/he must be computer literate with up-to-date MS Word and Excel skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills. S/he must be reliable, organised and have fast and accurate typing skills together with excellent administrative skills. Candidates must be able to demonstrate initiative and have a positive “can do” attitude. We are also looking for demonstrable ability to deal with clients in a sympathetic and compassionate manner and demonstrate a commitment to access to justice.

Team Co-ordinator – International & Group Claims

Leigh Day is seeking a Team Co-ordinator to assist a Partner within our International and Group Claims (IGC) department. Over the last twenty five years, IGC has been involved in ground-breaking cases against multinational corporations and government authorities and bodies. The role involves proactively taking control of, and managing all the administrative non-legal work of the team in general and the supervising Partner specifically.  The successful applicant will facilitate the efficient delivery of legal fee-earning work, including the organisation of the team’s electronic and paper case files, overseeing the diaries of team members, drafting documents, liaising with clients, experts, counsel and generally providing organisational and administrative support. There will be extensive support in coordinating international travel arrangements for the team, including visas, security, flights, hotels and general support to colleagues, who regularly travel.

The ideal candidate must have previous relevant experience of working in an administrative and / or secretarial support role within a legal environment and supporting a busy team. The successful candidate will be conscientious, extremely well organised with excellent IT skills. Excellent literacy and communication skills are essential along with the ability to deal sensitively and professionally with clients . We are looking for a hard-working and proactive individual who is able to use their initiative and is committed to maintaining the highest levels of integrity and professional conduct.
