Morphy Richards recall electric blanket due to fire risk
Consumer safety lawyer Jill Paterson comments on possible fire risk of electric blankets
Posted on 21 January 2013
Fire Brigades are warning the public about a product recall notice issued by electric blanket manufacturer Morphy Richards. It concerns the single electric over-blanket model 75310, and the double electric over-blanket model 75312 (dual control). This range of over-blankets was sold in the UK and Ireland through national and independent retailers and on the Morphy Richards website between October 2008 and January 2010. This is in addition to a recall notice issued in October 2011 for double electric over-blanket model 75311 (single control).
The manufacturer states that the blanket can develop a fault that can cause it to overheat and catch fire. Morphy Richards is asking owners to stop using affected blankets immediately. Owners should check for model numbers 75310, 75311 or 75312 on the rating label and contact Morphy Richards at blankets@morphyrichards.co.uk or 01709 572 570.
