Newquay dance teacher Brett Bullock jailed for 12 years for rape

Brett Bullock, aged 29, had already received a 16-year sentence in 2020 for sex offences against five young girls whom he had taught to dance, including one girl who was just 14 years old.

On 11 February 2022 at Truro Crown Court, Bullock was given an additional four years in jail for raping the 18-year-old girl multiple times at a hotel. As a result of the attacks, the victim has post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and is on medication, the court heard.

The offences occurred in August 2019 on the same day that Bullock was due for police questioning regarding suspicions of rape and other sexual offences.

Bullock must serve at least two thirds of his sentence before being considered for parole, meaning that he will remain in jail until at least 2034.

The lengthy prison sentence given to Bullock reflects the seriousness of the offences that he has committed and the impact on his survivors.”
