Leigh Day wins Employment Firm of the Year at The Legal 500 Northern Powerhouse Awards 2023
Leigh Day has been awarded Employment Firm of the Year and lawyers Linda Wong and Ryan Bradshaw were nominated for Lawyer of the Year and Rising Star of the Year.

The Northern Powerhouse Awards has been launched by The Legal 500, shining a spotlight on outstanding law firms and lawyers in the North, Northwest, Yorkshire, and the Humber. The shortlist was determined by research conducted for the UK Solicitors guide, and the winners were selected by a judging team.
The Leigh Day employment team has lawyers in both the London and Manchester offices and specialises in many areas including discrimination at work, equal pay, workplace harassment, whistleblowing, pension claims, redundancy, worker status, and unfair dismissal.
The Manchester employment team is made up of lawyers Linda Wong, Ryan Bradshaw, Lauren Lougheed and Mike Cain. The employment team has enjoyed previous awards successes, including winning Team of the Year at the 2022 Manchester Legal Awards. The Leigh Day employment team also won Employment Team of the Year at the 2022 LexisNexis Awards.
As well as winning the award for Employment firm of the year at the Northern Powerhouse Awards, two lawyers from the Manchester team also received nominations. Linda Wong is a partner in the employment team and was nominated for Lawyer of the Year in the Employment category. She joined Leigh Day in 2015 and works on large multi-claimant equal pay cases as well as employment and discrimination cases. Some examples of Linda’s cases include equal pay claims against large supermarket chains such as Sainsbury’s and Asda.
Ryan Bradshaw joined Leigh Day in 2015 and is a senior associate solicitor in the discrimination and employment department. Ryan is currently representing two Oxford University academics who are challenging the University in the Employment Tribunal following their campaign for better workplace rights. Ryan was nominated for Rising Star of the Year in the Employment category.
The winners were announced at the awards ceremony in Manchester on Thursday 2 March 2023.
