The law firm is sponsoring the event, which looks to open conversations and challenge narratives on birth injury, as well promote new discussions around birth trauma.
The anniversary summit will feature 10 talks from expert speakers, as well as six workshops, and three panels.
Make Birth Better is a community interest company that supports parents and professionals by offering a range of training, as well as campaigning to raise awareness of birth trauma.
Leigh Day medical negligence partner Despina Kavadas’ talk at the summit will be on medical negligence and consent.
Despina’s clients include women whose babies have suffered brain damage following mismanaged births, and women who were injured in labour and delivery.
Other speakers include perinatal trauma specialist Illiyin Morrison, activist Laura-Rose Thorogood, and Julianne Boutaleb, a perinatal psychologist.
The event will be taking place on Tuesday 13 May in London, with the option to attend online.
Despina Kavadas said:
“I am grateful that we are able to take part in this event. The summit allows for crucial discussions to take place on the impacts of birth trauma.
“There is a much-needed dialogue to be had on consent in childbirth and the importance of informed consent.”
