Richard Meeran in Conversation with Joe Fiorante QC

Richard Meeran (Partner and Head of Leigh Day’s International Department) will be in conversation with Canadian lawyer, Joe Fiorante QC, regarding multinational human rights litigation in Canada, particularly including the recent high-profile cases of Nevsun, Tahoe Resources and Hudbay Minerals.

Joe is a partner at Vancouver-based Camp Fiorante Matthews Mogerman from where he has handled transnational aviation, tort and human rights cases from diverse jurisdictions such as Guatemala, New Caledonia, Mexico, Germany and the Republic of the Maldives.

Joe acted for the Eritrean plaintiffs in the Nevsun mass tort action in which the Canadian Supreme Court decided in February 2020 that customary international law can be used directly against a company alleged to have been complicit in forced labour
