DePuy ASR hip recall compensation claims updates

De Puy confirm they will cover costs of testing and treatment

Specialist product liability law firm Leigh Day & Co, the lead solicitors in the DePuy ASR Hip Resurfacing/ Replacement  litigation, is currently acting on behalf of over 250 claimants who have undergone early revision procedures as a result of being implanted with the ASR component, which was recalled in September 2010.

The claimants are seeking compensation for the pain, suffering and financial loss sustained as result of the early failure of their ASR implant, and protective proceedings were issued on 1st November 2010 on behalf of part of the group.

DePuy have confirmed that they intend to cover reasonable and customary costs of testing and treatment associated with the ASR Recall, including revision surgery. Leigh Day has also been in 'without prejudice' discussions with DePuy’s representatives in the UK with a view to agreeing a mechanism for the swift and efficient resolution of individual claims for compensation so that claimants obtain their full entitlement as soon as possible. We are hopeful that we will be able to reach agreement on a claims process very soon.
