Second Swansea Bay Maternity Support Group public meeting announced

Leigh Day medical negligence partner Julia Reynolds has been invited to speak at a second public meeting of the Swansea Bay Maternity Support Group on Tuesday 1 April.

Posted on 25 March 2025

The meeting will take place from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the Mercure Hotel in Swansea (Mercure Swansea, Phoenix Way, Llansamlet, Swansea SA7 9EG).

Mothers and families interested in attending can RVSP to the Bay Maternity Support Group at swanseamaternitysupptgroup@gmail.com

Julia will be joined by Leigh Day’s in-house registered midwife Helen Stanley, who works on the law firm’s New Client Enquiries team. Helen has extensive experience in working to improve patient safety.

Julia Reynolds said:

“Following the last public meeting, we have been approached by further families seeking support. The feedback that we have is that families found a real benefit in sharing their experiences and support from other families. We believe that it is important that we can continue to provide helpful and accessible information for mothers and families with birth injury concerns.

“It is evident that many families feel their concerns have not been addressed. These public meetings allow mothers and families to have their voices heard.”

Helen Stanley said:

“I speak to a lot of families who have worries about the care they received, and often they are unsure about next steps and who they can talk to for support.

“These public meetings provide a vital safe space where families can be reassured in knowing that they’re not alone.”

Client testimonial:

“It can be incredibly daunting and lonely to be let down in the worst of ways by a faceless hospital. This group was full of lovely, kind, welcoming people who are all sadly walking the same path in life that I am. It made me feel less alone and made me feel heard for the first time in a long time.”
