Leigh Day partner Julia Reynolds to speak at Swansea Bay Maternity Support Group public meeting
Following concerns raised over maternity care services in Swansea, Leigh Day clinical negligence team partner Julia Reynolds has been invited to speak with families at a patient and family-led public meeting.

The meeting will take place on 12 February 2025 from 4-6pm at Village Hotel Swansea, off Langdon Rd, Fabian Way, Swansea SA1 8QY.
The event will be free to attend with no booking required beforehand. Families are asked to express interest in attending by emailing swanseamaternitysupptgroup@gmail.com.
In December 2023, Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBUHB) commissioned an independent review of its maternity and neonatal services to “maintain the public confidence in the care being delivered”.
The review has been criticised as having no opportunity for “participation” from families with concerns on maternity care.
The Swansea Bay Maternity Support Group was formed by families to provide support and advice for others. Now the group is encouraging families with birth injury concerns to attend the public meeting.
Organisers have invited Mrs Reynolds, Leigh Day partner based in Cardiff, to speak with families who attend. She will be accompanied by the law firm’s in-house registered midwife Helen Stanley who works on the firm’s new client enquiries team.
Julia Reynolds said:
“This event will provide a safe space for families to discuss their experiences with maternity care, and to find out more about what they can do next.
“It is important that families and mothers can share their concerns. It is evident that many families feel that their voice has not been heard.”
Helen Stanley said:
"We often receive calls from families who feel the care they received did not meet their needs and require help in addressing their concerns, especially if they or their baby has suffered harm as a result.
