Leigh Day announces Liverpool office move

Law firm Leigh Day has moved its growing Liverpool team into bigger offices with room to expand even further.

Leigh Day's Liverpool office has moved to the Plaza, just a five-minute walk from its current location at Horton House. The Plaza was built in the 1960s and was the old Littlewoods Catalogues building. It has since been refurbished into a high-quality serviced office building.

The move will accommodate the growing team, with soon to be 11 Leigh Day employees based in the new office.

Leigh Day partners Kevin Johnson and Joanne Candlish focus on asbestos-related claims, alongside partner Leanne Devine, who specialises in human rights and inquest cases.

Last year, Leanne represented the family of 45-year-old Dan Kay, a former reporter at the Liverpool Echo, at the inquest into his sudden death. She also represented the family of Vera Croghan, an 89-year-old woman who died in a fire.

In September 2024 Leigh Day’s Liverpool team secured a legal aid contract from the Legal Aid Agency in relation to actions against public authorities. This allows the team to provide accessible legal representation to people across the region.

Kevin Johnson said:

“I am delighted to move into our new premises in the Plaza. The move represents a step change in terms of the amenities and work environment on offer to our colleagues.

"I am excited to see the development of the office and the increasing range of legal services we can offer to the local community in Merseyside. It is important to us that clients can access the best specialist legal representation on their doorstep when possible and not have to travel out of the region.”

Joanne Candlish said:

“I am delighted that we can continue providing high quality local representation for victims and families.

“This move allows our team to continue to provide specialist legal support in the heart of Liverpool and marks an exciting period of growth in our team and the help that we will be able to offer.”

Leanne Devine said:

“Our firm’s ethos is firmly rooted in making sure that legal representation is accessible to all. This office move allows us to continue to help local clients reach justice including access to legal aid funding for legal representation.

“I am thrilled to be a part of such a strong team and look forward to continuing our work in the community.”

Leigh Day’s Liverpool base was previously on the sixth floor of Horton House in Exchange Flags.

The law firm also has offices in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Cardiff, Bristol, Plymouth and Newcastle.

It employs 797 people in total, with 221 of those staff working out of the Manchester office in Central Park, Northampton Road, Manchester.

Leigh Day offers legal services in personal injury, human rights, clinical negligence, employment and group claims, as well as its work in the international human rights arena.
