Solicitors from Leigh Day's regulatory & disciplinary team listed in Chambers and Partners UK guide 2021

Gideon Habel and Emma Walker, solicitors in Leigh Day's regulatory and disciplinary team, have been awarded listings in Chambers and Partners UK guide for top legal professionals 2021.

Posted on 22 October 2020

Gideon Habel, partner and head of the regulatory and disciplinary team has been ranked as an ‘Up and Coming’ partner, and Emma Walker, associate solicitor, has been ranked as an ‘Associate to Watch’.

Gideon and Emma were part of the internal team at the firm who comprehensively defeated a high-profile and long-running Solicitors Regulation Authority investigation and prosecution of Leigh Day and three of its solicitors between 2015 and 2018. Since then, they have turned their skills and experience to acting for fellow professionals going through their own investigations and prosecutions and also advise professional colleagues on ongoing ethics and compliance matters.

Leigh Day and its lawyers are recognised as professional discipline specialists in Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 for 2022.

Gideon Habel, head of the regulatory and disciplinary department at Leigh Day, said:

“I’m absolutely delighted that Chambers and Partners have recognised the team’s work with these rankings. It’s particularly satisfying given how early in our ‘journey’ this recognition has come. We have a clear aim to our work – to level the playing field on which professionals have to meet regulators – and it’s fantastic that this has been appreciated by our clients and professional colleagues alike. Huge thanks to them all for their time and effort in helping us to this achievement.”

Emma Walker, associate solicitor in the regulatory and disciplinary department at Leigh Day, said:

“It’s great to have been listed by Chambers and Partners and see recognition for the team. Thanks to our clients and colleagues in the law who responded to the researchers’ questions and gave feedback about our work.  We’re looking forward to continuing that work, advising and acting for our clients and achieving fairness and accountability throughout the regulatory system.”
