Solicitor Emma Walker from Leigh Day's regulatory and disciplinary team has been appointed as a LawCare champion.

LawCare is a charity that provides information and support to anyone in the legal community who is experiencing mental health and wellbeing problems, which includes family members of legal professionals.  It works to raise awareness, promote understanding and improve the culture and practice of law through research, training and other resources including its support services.

LawCare launched its champion scheme to enable it to appoint legal professionals in the UK to act as mental health and wellbeing advocates within the legal community, so that it can extend its reach throughout the profession and help it to drive positive change in the culture of law.

Emma is one of eight new legal professionals to join the scheme, bringing the total to 26 champions across the UK.  LawCare champions are chosen for their commitment to raising awareness about the importance of good mental health and wellbeing in the legal community.

Emma Walker, solicitor in the regulatory & disciplinary team at Leigh Day, added:

“It is a real honour to be appointed as a LawCare champion and I look forward to working with LawCare and my fellow champions to help the legal community to care for itself.

“By virtue of being a solicitor and through my work in the regulatory and disciplinary field, I see how important it is to monitor and look after wellbeing. Every one of us has physical and mental health and we need to look after them as best we can, to enable each of us to thrive.”
