Lawyers investigate potential legal action over Mercedes Benz airbags following recall
Lawyers have revealed that they are acting in cases possibly linked to a recall by Mercedes-Benz of over 400,000 cars in the UK over concerns in relation to air bags

Law firm Leigh Day are currently investigating potential legal claims concerning air bags which could be linked to the news that issues with wiring, according to the car giant, could lead to the driver's air bag being defective or cause ineffective deployment.
According to a statement from Mercedes-Benz the models affected include the A, B, C, and E-Class, and CLA, GLA, and GLC, built between November 2011 and July 2017.
A Mercedes-Benz spokeswomen said: "If the steering column module clock spring is broken, the driver air bag warning light will be displayed in the instrument cluster, as well as a red air bag warning lamp.
"In rare circumstances, if the clock spring is broken and the wiring components are not sufficiently earthed, this could lead to an electrostatic discharge which could inadvertently deploy the driver's air bag."
According to the company, customers who own an affected car will be contacted by the manufacturer.
Jill Paterson from the consumer law and product safety team at Leigh Day said: “If an airbag deploys when it shouldn’t, there can be serious consequences, such as road traffic accidents resulting in personal injuries. Drivers need to be confident that their vehicles are safe.”
