Learning & Development Consultant – Business Services

Leigh Day is seeking to appoint a Learning and Development Consultant on a permanent, part time basis to join our small but dedicated Learning and Development team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a coveted, award winning, specialist ‘claimant’ law firm renowned for ground breaking cases.

This position will support the Firm’s strategic, operational and regulatory learning objectives and requirements by developing and delivering programs specific to trainees, qualified lawyers and business services staff covering the full gamut of training from soft skills to professional ethics and compliance.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities;
• Developing and  delivering the trainee learning and development strategy and Trainee Programme
• Managing the ‘Core Legal Programme’
• Developing and delivering training and development programmes for Business Services staff
• Manage e-Learning

To be successful you must; 
• Have demonstrable experience of operational L&D knowledge and skills and the importance of delivering value.
• Have relevant L&D experience and skills with particular emphasis on; event/lesson designing and planning; training needs analysis and setting outcomes for individuals, groups and Firm; choosing learning approaches.
• Have demonstrable working knowledge of the legal industry and a strong understanding of its culture, functions and learning and development regulations, in particular, the proposed changes to the solicitor qualification process.

This is a permanent, part-time position based in London.

Facilities Assistant (Archiving) – Business Services

Leigh Day’s London office is currently seeking to appoint an Administrative Assistant (Archiving) to join the Business Services Department to assist primarily with archiving activities across the firm.  The role would ideally suit pro-active, reliable, friendly and energetic individuals who enjoy working in a business environment.

Main tasks and responsibilities;
• To ensure files are processed aligning with Leigh Day’s archiving process.
• Assist with the physical moving and handling of archiving boxes.
• To liaise with the other members of the Archiving Team in relation to other archiving matters.
• Assisting with photocopying and scanning.

To be successful you must be able to;
• Lift and move moderately heavy objects such as archive boxes.  (Appropriate moving and handling training will be provided).
• Demonstrate relevant computer/IT experience.
• Work efficiently and be adaptable to working in a busy office environment.
• Focus with an eye for detail
• Work pro-actively, in a reliable, energetic and friendly manner. 

This is a 12 month Fixed term, full time contract, based in London.

Legal Cashier – Business Services

Leigh Day is seeking to appoint a Legal Cashier. The role will be primarily assisting the Senior Legal Cashier and will suit a proactive, diligent, legal cashier seeking to join a coveted, award winning, law firm known for ground breaking cases. The role will assist in ensuring the firm’s accounting procedures are adhered to and that support is provided on these procedures.

Main tasks and responsibilities will include;
• Undertake daily banking functions.
• Administer petty cash.
• Process client and office accounting transactions including postings.
• Daily authorisation of cheque requests in Liberate and the processing of cheques.
• Assist with the reconciliation and processing of all credit card transactions.
• Billing including allocating WIP.
• Client and Office Journals
• Disbursement and time write offs.
• Logging / reviewing and allocating incoming client funds.

To be successful you must have;
• Demonstrable relevant legal cashier experience with a thorough understanding of Solicitor Accounts Rules.
• Excellent ability to use accounting software packages.
• High standard of interpersonal and communication skills, especially in the context of client care.
• Competent user of Excel and familiarity with Word.
• Proven ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines, in particular at month end.
• Ability to manage assigned tasks in an assertive, efficient and timely manner.
• Good attention to detail.
• Ability to take initiative, work and contribute in a team environment and maintain a professional conduct.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Manchester.
