Tom Jervis is a specialist product liability solicitor who  assists Jill Paterson in the international and group claims department. 

He specialises in representing injured people in compensation claims relating to clinical trials and defective goods, in insurance disputes, international claims and multi-party actions.

Since joining Leigh Day in January 2007, Tom has been involved in a number of the firm’s high profile personal injury claims cases including:

Tom currently assists Jill Paterson with a broad range of claims relating to faulty consumer products, medical devices and pharmaceutical drugs.  Current cases include claims relating to Medtronic Sprint Fidelis defibrillator leads, failed metal on metal hips, and a number of house fire claims allegedly linked to consumer goods such as fridge freezers, laptops and heaters.

Tom has a specialist interest in clinical trial cases.  He has acted for individuals who have alleged serious injuries such as cytokine release syndrome, blindness and neurological damage after they participated in clinical trials.

Before joining the firm, Tom read law at the University of Warwick and spent time in the United States defending Death Row cases.  He also volunteered with the Free Representation Unit (FRU) and the Coventry Refugee and Asylum Centre. Tom has acted as a welfare, financial and property Deputy for the Court of Protection.

Tom is accredited as a litigator by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.  Chambers and partners 2019 said of Tom, he is a "very conscientious" associate who "cares greatly about clients and has an excellent bedside manner." Legal 500 2017 identified Tom as a 'next generation lawyer' and as, 'not only a knowledgeable and skilled litigator, but compassionate and empathetic’.

Tom is frequently asked to comment in the national media about product liability matters, including on ITV and the BBC.
