Nathaniel Martindale, an experienced travel and cross-border specialist, has joined Leigh Day’s dedicated travel team within the personal injury department as a Senior Associate Solicitor.

Nathaniel has represented clients in a number of high-profile cases including successfully obtaining six-figure compensation on behalf of the family of a young child who drowned on a family holiday in Egypt and on behalf of 30 family members following a fatal road traffic collision in Greece.
He specialises in jurisdictional disputes and catastrophic and complex cases covering a number of areas including the Montreal Convention, Athens Convention, complex employers’ liability, road traffic collisions, public liability, skiing, assault and sexual assault. Nathaniel also acts on behalf of foreign nationals injured in the UK.
Nathaniel is a Committee Member of the Pan European Organisation of Personal Injury Lawyers (PEOPIL) New Lawyers’ Group and will be hosting an event in Poland focusing on the legal education of junior lawyers in April. His work with PEOPIL surrounds him with a network of personal injury experts from around the world which he is able to utilise when working on cross-border personal injury cases.
Nathaniel, who joins Leigh Day from Irwin Mitchell, will be the first member of Leigh Day’s travel team outside of Manchester as it continues its expansion nationally.
He joins the travel team shortly after its success in the High Court in Liverpool where a judge ruled that Liverpool fans affected by the Stade de France Champions League final chaos in 2022 can have their personal injury claims heard in the UK.
Nathaniel said:
“It is great to join such a formidable team. I have been aware of Leigh Day’s stellar reputation for over a decade – and have always admired the way they tenaciously fight for their clients and for justice.
“Becoming a part of the travel team is incredibly exciting and I very much look forward to helping the team continue to go from strength to strength.”
Clare Campbell, head of the travel team at Leigh Day, said:
“I am delighted to welcome Nathaniel to the travel team at Leigh Day. Nathaniel is a very experienced and highly regarded travel lawyer. His knowledge and exceptional client case skills will be an asset to the travel team. I am looking forward to working together to assist clients who have sustained life changing injuries abroad”
In the continued development of Leigh Day’s Leeds office, Senior Associate Solicitor in the Clinical Negligence department, Matthew Westlake, has been made a partner at the firm.
