Leading consumer lawyer concerned at reports of riders being injured as Stromer issues bicycle recall
A leading consumer lawyer has said they are concerned riders have already been injured as a product recall has been issued for three models of Stromer electric commuter bicycle.

Jill Paterson, a partner from the product liability team at law firm Leigh Day warned cyclists with the models affected should take “immediate action”.
The recall shared by the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) relates to the Stromer ST3, ST5 and ST7 S-pedelec bikes fitted with WREN front suspension forks.
The regulator warned these suspension forks are at risk of failing and cracking.
Manufacturer Stromer has said this type of failure may lead to riders losing control of their bikes. It confirmed it has received 15 reports of forks failing, and that eight riders are already known to have been injured.
Advice from the OPSS urges riders to stop using the affected bikes immediately and to take them to their nearest authorised dealer once they have been notified that the parts are available.
Stromer has said that replacement parts are currently in production and that customers will be updated when the fix is available.
Leigh Day partner Jill Paterson, who works on the product safety team, said:
“It is concerning to hear that eight riders have already been injured in incidents involving this recalled suspension fork. Any riders with the Stromer models affected should take the warnings from the regulator and manufacturer seriously and take immediate action. With many cyclists commuting on already busy roads, these kinds of issues can lead to serious injuries.”
