Leigh Day celebrates three-year anniversary in Leeds

Law firm Leigh Day is celebrating the three-year anniversary of its Leeds office opening, and its commitment to securing justice for people across Yorkshire.

The national firm’s expansion to the city was part of its ongoing commitment to ensuring that those in need of legal assistance can access it, regardless of geographical barriers.

First opening its doors in Leeds in Summer 2022 Leigh Day was then based in Albion Street and focused on personal injury claims.

In 2023, Leigh Day continued its northern expansion by moving into a larger office in the prime location of City Square in Leeds city centre.

Since the move to the city centre, right outside Leeds train station, Leigh Day has grown its staff and expanded its services to include personal injury, employment, travel, and group claims. Through its human rights lawyers in Manchester, London and Liverpool, Leigh Day is also able to help with discrimination and immigration claims.

The move to City Square also allowed for a big increase in face-to-face contact with northern clients.

With a base in Leeds, Leigh Day partners with several local hospitals and charities including becoming a Yorkshire and Humber regional support partner for the Child Brain Injury Trust and being selected by Day One Trauma Support to provide legal advice to victims of major trauma

Leigh Day also sponsored a sculpture on the Leeds Bear Hunt in 2023, an art installation trail around the city to raise money for Leeds Children’s Hospital. All 35 bear sculptures were put up for auction on 28 September, and Leigh Day bid on and won its sponsored bear, ‘The Great Yorkshire Bear’ in support of the Leeds Hospitals Charity.

The bear sculpture continues to take pride of place in the Leigh Day Leeds office and is easily visible in the window of its eighth-floor offices at City Square marking the firm's commitment to supporting local causes.

The celebrations follow head of Leigh Day’s Leeds office and partner in the personal injury department, Beth Sanders’ team surpassing £60m in damages secured for clients since the Leeds office first opened, including what is thought to be one of the UK’s largest personal injury accommodation settlements.

Leigh Day partner Bethany Sanders said:

“I am proud to be celebrating Leigh Day’s three-year anniversary in Leeds and look forward to continuing our expansion. We will continue to forge important relationships with northern hospitals, charities and support groups and help provide greater access to justice for our clients in Yorkshire and across the north.”
