Leading asbestos lawyer says many mesothelioma patients can recover the cost of treatment not available on the NHS through a legal compensation case

Harminder Bains, joint head of asbestos and industrial disease at law firm Leigh Day, spoke at a webinar hosted by GenesisCare UK and the London Asbestos Support Awareness Group.

During the event, Navigating Private Treatment Options for Mesothelioma, Harminder discussed the advantage of bringing a legal claim for compensation for mesothelioma is that patients can recover costs of private medical treatment, which may extend patients’ life expectancies for several years.  

She referred to her client Tony Dulwich, who had benefited from such a legal claim and who had, as a result of the private treatment, been fit enough to travel on holidays abroad which he enjoyed with his family.

Harminder explained how once a medical professional has recommended a course of treatment, asbestos lawyers can seek to obtain interim or full payments from defendants to cover the costs.
