Data breach Human rights Information law

Joshua is an associate solicitor in the human rights department, specialising in information, privacy and data protection law. He acts for claimants across a wide variety of individual and group actions including claims for compensation for breaches of the GDPR / Data Protection Act 2018, misuse of private information and breach of confidence.

His current cases include actions on behalf of individuals whose highly sensitive medical records have been deliberately shared with third parties, without their consent.

He also acts on behalf of clients in mass data breach claims in which companies have failed adequately to protect their customers’ personal data, including bank details, leading to the unauthorised disclosure of that information and leaving customers vulnerable to identity theft and other harm. This includes, investigating claims on behalf of thousands of customers of South Staffs Water and Cambridge Water whose personal information was unlawfully disclosed in a cyber-attack in 2022.

Joshua has successfully reached settlement in a variety of individual and group matters, including most recently helping to reach settlement of a group action against TalkTalk.
