Ella Raeburn
Associate solicitor
Associate solicitor in the personal injury department.
Based in our Personal Injury Department in London, Ella is an Associate Solicitor specialising in complex multi-party and individual consumer rights claims.
Ella has 6 years of experience in complex civil litigation, public law, inquests, and personal injury law, primarily concerning wrongdoing by public authorities. She has extensive experience of litigating claims in the County Court, High Court, and Court of Appeal, and has represented bereaved families before the Coroner’s Court.
Legal expertise
Ella’s background in legal aid law means that she is acutely aware of barriers facing access to justice, and proud to work for a firm that champions justice for all. Having worked alongside leading lawyers on novel public law challenges of primary and secondary legislation, and through bringing complex civil actions against the Police Federation and government departments, Ella is well equipped to face intimidating and well-resourced opponents to achieve her client’s desired objectives.
During her undergraduate degree, Ella co-founded a Human Rights Law Society with a friend, and organised and led a group of student volunteers to Panama. Whilst there, Ella and her peers worked alongside local lawyers to provide pro bono legal advice clinics to members of rural communities in the Darien Province. The clinics focused on issues of employment, housing, education, and human rights. Ella was also responsible for preparing and delivering lessons to children at local schools on children’s rights, as defined and protected by UN Charters. Additionally, whilst completing her LPC, LLM, and Training Contract, Ella provided pro bono legal advice to people in custody through the Queen Mary University of London Legal Advice Centre.
Since having joined Leigh Day in February 2025, Ella has already achieved settlement for one of our clients who suffered severe food poisoning following consumption of cheese infected with E. Coli. She is also assisting the team on a number of high-profile inquests concerning the tragic deaths of children following anaphylactic reactions.
Ella’s employment and voluntary history demonstrate her commitment to using strategic litigation to uphold individual and collective rights.
Education
Ella graduated from the University of Edinburgh Law School in 2018 with a First-Class Honours Degree in Law. Thereafter, she completed the Legal Practice Course and a Masters in Law at the University of Law, graduating with a distinction in both. She joined Leigh Day in February 2025, having previously worked in the Civil Liberties Departments at Broudie Jackson Canter, (Liverpool) and Tuckers Solicitors, (Central London).
What our clients say
Leigh Day were fantastic in my E. coli legal case from the outset. Katy, Angela and Ella were all extremely helpful with any questions I had, but also explained any complicated legal jargon to me as this was the first time I'd been involved in a legal case. Ella was first class in her communication with me over the last few months while Leigh Day finalised my case.
