mesothelioma lawyers are supporting a new support group, the
London Asbestos Support Awareness Group (LASAG) which was set up in October 2016.
LASAG is a new asbestos support group which will help people in London and the South East who have been diagnosed with mesothelioma and other asbestos related diseases.
The group was set up by the London Hazards Centre which has campaigned for decades on asbestos safety matters, and which hosts the annual
Action Mesothelioma Day in London, this year to be held on 7th July, to raise awareness about asbestos diseases and will offer support and advice to people who are suffering from asbestos related diseases in their own homes.
LASAG employs two advisors, Marika Townsend and Yvonne Miah, who are former lung cancer nurse specialists. Between them they have over forty years’ experience working with asbestos related disease sufferers and their families.
Both former nurses are well aware of the impact that such diseases have on individuals and their families and will be able to offer continuous support to affected individuals.
Clients have already benefited from the work that LASAG and you can read their feedback in the latest
LASAG newsletter.

Harminder Bains, whose father died from mesothelioma after being exposed to asbestos at Chatham Dockyards in Kent, and whose family still live in Rochester, Kent, said:
“At last mesothelioma sufferers in Kent, Essex and the South East, will have access to a support group run by specialist staff who understand the terrible impact that the disease can have on individuals and their families.
“The expertise that the former cancer nurses bring to LASAG is incredibly valuable, and the group has already set up a number of regular meetings in Dagenham and Canterbury. I value the important work that LASAG has already done, and will continue to do for mesothelioma sufferers, and am delighted that Leigh Day is able to support such a fantastic organisation.”
