Hoover issue safety notice alert and product recall on fire hazard fridge freezer

Trading standards teams warn on potential fire risk of some Hoover frost free fridge freezers

5 April 2013

Hoover has issued a product recall on a fridge freezer model which had the potential to catch fire and cause serious damage and injury.  The safety notice relates to Hoover frost free freezer serial numbers HNC6185W, HNC6185A, HNC6200A, HNC6185WE, HNC6200WE and HNC6185AE manufactured between August (week 34) 2011 and August (week 34) 2012.

The company has said that there is a possibility of a potential fault developing on the defrost heater element which can lead to overheating and could result in a fire. Hoover have asked purchasers of the appliance to check the appliance model number, product code and date code which are located at the top of the label.
