Lawyers at Leigh Day & Co were delighted to attend the cycling organisation’s annual awards ceremony held by British Cycling in Birmingham on 4th February 2012.  Leigh Day & Co sponsored the event and partner and head of the cycle injury team at the firm, Penny Knight, was asked to present a number of prizes.

Over 500 people gathered at the Hilton Metropole Hotel to celebrate cycling, and the great success British Cycling members have had in the competitive arena, including the crowning of Mark Cavendish as world road race champion.

The cycle injury team at Leigh Day acts as legal advisors to all British Cycling members who are injured in road traffic collisions and was pleased to be able to attend this evening of celebrating achievement at all levels of cycling.

As British Cycling President Brian Cookson said:
“We hear a lot about all of the problems faced by sport today, but I feel both confident and proud to say that, thanks to many of the people at our Awards Dinner, the basis of our sport is healthier than it has ever been. We can never take this for granted, so British Cycling is proud to take the opportunity to say thank you to those who have contributed so much.

“Looking ahead, there are now just six months to go to London 2012 and the focus of the Great Britain Cycling Team is firmly set on our home Olympic and Paralympic Games, a once in a lifetime experience and opportunity for all of us. We are ready for that and all the other challenges in our sport – what a year it‘s going to be!”

Penny said:

"The Leigh Day cycling and sports injury team usually only has contact with British Cycling members when they are at a low point, having been involved in a collision or road incident and been injured.  It is therefore always a pleasure to support and attend the British Cycling's awards ceremony and to mark the success of cyclists of all ages and the many volunteers who help them achieve that success."
