At the awards, Leigh Day is nominated for:
-
Outstanding Lawyer Award – Leanne Devine
-
Outstanding Team Award – Dispute Resolution and Litigation
-
Law Firm Award – 1-49 Employees
The awards, organised by the Liverpool Law Society, celebrate legal excellence across the Liverpool City Region. This year’s judging panel commended nominees for their commitment to vulnerable clients, community engagement, and legal innovation.
Leanne Devine, partner in Leigh Day’s Human Rights department, has been shortlisted for the Outstanding Lawyer Award. Leanne is recognised for her tireless work representing bereaved families in inquests involving the state and claims arising from human rights breaches.
Leigh Day is also shortlisted for the Law Firm Award (1–49 employees), which acknowledges firms that have made a significant contribution to the Liverpool legal community. The nomination reflects the firm’s growing presence in the city and its reputation for delivering justice for clients.
The firm has also been nominated for the Outstanding Team Award for Dispute Resolution and Litigation. The work of Leigh Day’s Liverpool office work spans high-profile litigation including the Stade de France claims, claims against public authorities, complex industrial disease claims and landmark legal challenges. This nomination recognises that work and the Leigh Day Liverpool team’s commitment to securing justice for clients.
Based in the Plaza, Leigh Day’s Liverpool office offers both human rights and industrial disease related legal services. These nominations follow Leigh Day’s recent expansion in the North West with the appointment of Ged Horton as a partner in the personal injury department and Lisa Gormley as a senior associate in the firm’s asbestos and industrial disease team.
The winners will be announced at the Liverpool Law Society Annual Dinner and Legal Awards, taking place on Thursday 13 November 2025 at the Rum Warehouse, Titanic Hotel, Liverpool.
Kevin Johnson, asbestos partner and head of Leigh Day’s Liverpool office, said:
“We are thrilled to be shortlisted in three categories at this year’s Liverpool Legal Awards. These nominations reflect the dedication and expertise of our teams in Liverpool and Leigh Day’s commitment to delivering justice for clients.
"We’re incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made in supporting clients across the North West since opening our Liverpool office, and with recent appointments strengthening the team, we look forward to continuing to grow our presence in the region.”
