Anna-Maria is an Associate Solicitor, specialising in all aspects of financial Court of Protection work and Personal Injury Trusts. She primarily assists individuals who have suffered catastrophic injuries due to medical negligence or personal injury, helping them navigate their litigation claims and manage their financial affairs under Deputyship Orders or Personal Injury Trusts post-litigation. Her goal is to ensure that substantial compensation awards meet her clients’ long-term needs effectively. 

She also provides tailored advice to lay deputies, Attorneys, and Trustees on a range of Court of Protection applications, with expertise in Statutory Wills, gift applications, and property purchases. 

Her previous experience spans health and welfare Court of Protection challenges, Human Rights law, and Mental Health law. This background has equipped her with valuable insights into challenging state bodies on welfare rights, and she frequently draws on this expertise when dealing with cross-jurisdictional issues in her practice. 

Aside from English, Anna-Maria speaks fluent Greek and Albanian, with working proficiency in Spanish and German, and basic knowledge of Portuguese. These language skills enhance her ability to work with diverse clients and handle cross-jurisdictional matters efficiently.

• Complex Case Management: Assisting with the management of pre-settled catastrophic injury cases valued at several million pounds. 
• Personal Injury Trusts: Preparing and supporting Trustees and Beneficiaries in managing compensation awards within Trusts. 
• Court Applications: Assisting in a retrospective gift application on behalf of an Attorney to the Court of Protection. 
• Social Care Negotiations: Successfully negotiating with a local authority to secure social care provisions for a young adult lacking capacity, avoiding the need for Court proceedings. 
• Urgent Deputyship Applications: Advising family members on an urgent deputyship application due to an individual’s rapidly deteriorating health. 
• LPA Revocation: Assisting in an application to revoke a Lasting Power of Attorney and appoint a new lay Deputy due to concerns about the Attorney’s actions. 
• Employment Arrangements: Reviewing and implementing changes to employment arrangements within a highly complex care package managed by a Professional Deputy. 
• Policy Advice: Advising a social housing provider on internal policy development for vulnerable clients. 
• Statutory Will Applications: Assisting in a complex statutory Will application involving both biological and adopted family members of a young adult lacking capacity and working closely with colleagues to address intricate family dynamics.  
• Cross-Jurisdictional Collaboration: Coordinating with Jamaican lawyers and professionals on a Guardianship application to the Jamaican Courts for an individual lacking capacity in England. 

Membership

Anna-Maria is a member of the Professional Deputies Forum (PDF) and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). She has completed a STEP diploma with a particular focus on administration of Trusts and advising vulnerable clients and is currently in the process of obtaining her TEP designation.
