Repair programme of Bosch, Siemens and Neff dishwashers announced by manufacturers

BSH Home Appliances Ltd announces that repairs will be offered on some dishwasher models that have a risk of fire

Housefire risk from some Bosch dishwashers

11 June 2014

Amidst fears that thousands of dishwashers with a potential fire risk are still operating in homes throughout the UK, media coverage in Ireland has recently focused on a programme of repairs announced by BSH Home Appliances Limited.

This fresh call to consumers relates to dishwashers including Bosch, Siemens and Neff models made before 2006.

Affected models that were only distributed in the UK include dishwashers in the batch number range from FD 7901 to FD 8504.

Consumers have been told not to call the advice line if they have already spoken to an adviser, or have had their dishwasher repaired. The original repair action was announced in July 2011.

Jill Paterson, a personal injury fire claims specialist lawyer, says that manufacturers should be doing more to recall or repair potentially hazardous appliances.

She says:

“We are now acting for a large number of people whose lives have been devastated because of house fires.

“Many of these fires were caused by allegedly faulty white goods. We have set up a campaigning group, Expect It’s safe, which is calling on manufacturers to do more to alert consumers about the possible fire hazards in their homes.”

If you have suffered a personal injury or damage to your home following a house fire caused by a faulty dishwasher you may be able to bring a compensation claim.

You may be able tobring a claim for compensation even if you do not have home insurance.

There is a three year limit on bringing personal injury claims, including house fire claims, so please feel free to contact a member of the fire claims team at Leigh Day today for a free and confidential consultation .
