Rendition and torture

It is now well-established that after 9/11, following a series of decisions to deny the protections of the Geneva Convention to enemy combatants in the so-called “War on Terror”, the United States engaged in wholesale torture and mistreatment of detainees captured overseas. It is now well-established that the UK was involved in the torture and kidnap of terrorist suspects and a number of claims for compensation have been brought by Leigh Day on behalf of alleged victims.
