The team were recognised for their resilience and compassion when taking new enquiries from often distressed people about traumatic ordeals they have been through.

Judges at the MYTAs awards ceremony on Friday 30 October praised the six-strong team for their strength in handling the calls from people seeking help from Leigh Day’s medical negligence lawyers.

Outreach work undertaken by the team was also commended by judges. The Leigh Day team run teaching sessions for student midwives at Salford University to help develop the next generation of healthcare professionals.

The Team of the Year award at the MYTAs recognises a client or customer facing team which has helped raise the profile of its organisation, made a positive community impact, and a strong contribution to the sector or industry.

Leigh Day's team faced strong competition for the prize, with judges awarding a commendation to another nominated team.

Medical negligence triage team manager Helen Stanley said:

"I'm incredibly proud to manage this team and delighted for them to be receiving public recognition. The judges provided some incredibly positive and meaningful feedback, reflecting the compassion, professionalism and teamwork shown by the group. Despite an ever-increasing volume of new enquiries, the team continue to deliver exceptional service and foster a positive culture, which makes the team what it is. Awards are never won by one person, and this belongs entirely to the team, whose kindness, resilience and determination has earned them this recognition. I could not be prouder of them."

Leigh Day’s head of client experience, partner Quaam Animashaun added:

"When people turn to a law firm for help, it is often at a time when they have been through one of the worst experiences of their lives. When that happens, Leigh Day wants to have people at the end of a phone who know how to listen, to help and to be able to show callers that they have been heard and understood.

“Helen’s team has all of those attributes and it is a massive credit to her that their empathy, resilience and professionalism has been recognised by the Manchester Young Talent Awards.”
