what the directories say
We mainly work with solicitors Andrew Lord and Zayna Mahmood, who are both exceptionally committed and skilled in this area of work. Their approach to survivors is sensitive and patient. They create an environment where our meetings are as comfortable as possible for all involved. This team also represents organisations for survivors. We are very grateful for their rapid response to issues we raise and the advice they provide, which have assisted us over the years in developing robust provision for the survivors in response to their wider needs.

Legal expertise
A number of Zayna’s key successes at Leigh Day include:
- Assisting with the representation of Islington Survivors Network and in acting on behalf of a number of individuals in civil compensation claims against the London Borough of Islington for abuse that they were subjected to in placements arranged by the Local Authority. Compensation has been successfully obtained for a number of these survivors.

Zayna also worked on a case which was taken through the appeals process and in which the client achieved a considerably better financial outcome than the offer proposed by the council.
- Acting in a number of group claims, including for former pupils of Royal Alexandra and Albert School, Queen Mary’s School and Swaylands School.

Zayna graduated with a First Class LLB in 2019 and joined Leigh Day shortly after.
