Shaimaa works with Dino Nocivelli on cases brought against both individuals who have abused positions of power and institutions that have failed to protect children suffering abuse.
Shaimaa is an associate solicitor in the abuse team with Dino Nocivelli.
Shaimaa joined Leigh Day in 2023 and represents survivors of sexual, emotional, and spiritual abuse in civil compensation claims. Shaimaa has experience working on civil cases such as:
- Non-recent child sexual abuse
- Abuse suffered in adulthood
- Abuse by individuals who have taken advantage of their position of trust or authority
- Abuse in educational institutions
- Abuse in boarding schools
- Abuse in sports
- Abuse in family settings
- Spiritual abuse in religious settings
Shaimaa has a special interest in empowering women to access justice for abuse they have suffered. She has spoken in conferences and panels on the topics of spiritual abuse and access to justice.
During her training, Shaimaa also worked in the clinical negligence department on high value claims involving birth, brain and spinal injuries, neonatal deaths and delays in diagnoses.
Before joining Leigh Day, Shaimaa worked on issues of domestic violence, immigration detention in the UK and on cases of trafficked women held in unlawful detention abroad. She has previously worked in charities and NGOs including the King’s Trust, Bail for Immigration Detainees and Reprieve.
She holds an undergraduate degree in Politics with Management from Queen Mary, University of London, an MSc in International Management (Middle East and North Africa) from the School of Oriental and African Studies, a Graduate Diploma in Law and Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice with distinction from BPP Law School.
