Legal expertise

With experience of litigating in both the Employment Tribunal and the civil courts, including the Court of Appeal, Louise specialises in multi-party actions and trade union work. She is currently working on a number of employment and worker status cases including issues such as the right to holiday pay and National Minimum Wage.

Along with Michael Newman, Louise worked through every stage of the high-profile blacklisting litigation in the High Court. The case involved representing over 100 GMB members, both  construction workers and environmental activists, in claims including conspiracy, defamation and breach of the Data Protection Act.

Since joining Leigh Day, Louise has been involved in a number of other cases, including:

  • The successful defence by GMB of a claim by Lidl to deny collective bargaining rights to a group of workers
  • Achieving successful outcomes in a number of claims, including discrimination on grounds of disability, age and sex, as well as unfair dismissal.

Louise has also advised on many settlement agreements.

After completing her training contract at a multi-disciplinary City law firm, Louise qualified as a solicitor in September 2011. She started at Leigh Day as a paralegal before moving to her solicitor role in 2014. 

Louise previously worked for the Disability Rights Commission, where she was involved in drafting a number of Disability Discrimination Act Codes of Practice, including access to goods and services and transport.
