Nottingham doctor faces court on sexual abuse charges

A 38-year-old doctor is due to appear in court charged with sexually assaulting two male patients at the Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham.

Posted on 22 March 2021

Dr Tayabb Shah, formerly of Embley Road, Sherwood, will appear before Nottingham Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 23 March charged with five counts of sexual assault.

They relate to the allegations that two male patients were sexually assaulted between 12 September 2020 and 25 September 2020. Dr Shah was charged on 22 February, 2021 when he was released on conditional bail before his court appearance.

His bail conditions include not to attend his former workplace, the Queen's Medical Centre, unless in a medical emergency for his own treatment.

The Nottingham Post reports that a spokesperson from Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust said: “We are assisting the police with their investigation following the arrest and subsequent charge of Dr Shah. It would not be appropriate to say anything further at this stage, in light of the ongoing criminal proceedings.”
