Sophie Turner's Profile Picture
Sophie is a solicitor working with Richard Meeran in the International Claims Department, specialising in international human rights, environmental and corporate accountability cases. 
Prior to joining Leigh Day in 2012, Sophie worked in the asylum and human rights field in London and Brussels and spent a number of years working on SIAC and immigration appeals at Fisher Meredith. Since joining Leigh Day, she has assisted on a number of complex cases across multiple jurisdictions, including:
  • A claim against a major pharmaceutical company on behalf of an individual who suffered serious injury during the course of a clinical trial;
  • The Zimmer group product liability litigation in respect of allegedly defective metal-on-metal hip replacements;
  • The Iraqi civilian litigation against the Ministry of Defence.
Sophie is currently instructed by a group of Peruvian citizens in a claim against Xstrata for harm allegedly suffered during the course of a protest in the Espinar region of Peru in May 2012. The case was identified by The Lawyer as one of the top 20 cases of 2016. 
Sophie has a particular interest in the extractives and pharmaceutical industries and corporate accountability.
She graduated with Double Starred First Class Honours in French and Spanish from University College London before completing a law conversion with distinction. She speaks fluent French, German and Spanish.
