Spinal injury

The spinal injury compensation team at Leigh Day has been representing clients who have suffered devastating and life-changing spinal cord injuries since the firm's inception in 1987.

We have secured multi-million pound settlements for clients seeking spinal injury compensation and have one of the largest teams of specialist back and spinal cord injury lawyers in the country.

Our spinal injury compensation lawyers are highly experienced in assessing the merits of a potential spinal injury claim. If we are able to take on your case our lawyers are happy to visit you at home or at hospital to take full details from you.

Our experience at securing early interim payments means that many of our clients have been able to purchase specially adapted accommodation soon after instructing us.

Working with the Spinal Injuries Association

The Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) is the leading national user-led spinal cord injuries charity.

The SIA’s belief is that everyone has a right to live a fulfilled life and that means the life that they choose, a life that has the same opportunities as everyone else.

Their purpose is to be in partnership with the spinal cord injured community to create quality and equality of life by campaigning, educating and supporting.

Leigh Day is proud to sponsor Carol Barraclough, one of the SIA’s Peer Support Officers.  Carol and her colleagues provide a valuable service helping spinal cord injured people to rebuild their lives by offering

  • one-to-one support
  • practical help and advice
  • encouragement and a listening ear

They also support family members and friends, allowing them to talk through the impact of a spinal cord injury with someone who understands and who can signpost them to sources of help and information.

Their support isn’t confined to hospital. They support SIA members at home or in their local environment, to help smooth the transition back into the community.  Carol’s ‘patch’ is the South Central Region, which includes the National Spinal Injuries Centre at Stoke Mandeville.
