Training Contracts 2013-2015 – REF: TC/2013

We are now accepting applications for Training Contracts commencing September 2013.

Leigh Day & Co is committed to the Law Society training scheme and the provision of structured quality training placements for trainee solicitors. Trainee Solicitors at Leigh Day & Co do not have case loads of their own but work closely with one or more of the senior lawyers in the firm and assist with all aspects of that lawyer's work.  These are busy and demanding roles and a high standard of performance is expected with the ability to deal sensitively with clients and experts.  Successful applicants will have good IT skills and be effective communicators.  Strong written & verbal skills are a must have together with the ability to manage tasks in an assertive, efficient and timely manner.  A proven commitment to the type of work we do would be an advantage.

Candidates please note that it is a requirement of the firm that your training contract will be for the full two years (September 2013 to September 2015) and any previous experience gained elsewhere and at Leigh Day & Co will not be considered as time to count.

The closing date for applications is by close of business at 6:00p.m. on Friday 9th March 2012. Any applications received after this deadline has passed will not be considered.

Submission of your training contract application

To apply, please return all the documents listed below to Helen McGregor, HR Administrator by close of business on Friday 9th March 2012.

• The completed application form (see Application Pack)
• The completed diversity monitoring questionnaire (see Application Pack)
• A copy of your up-to-date CV
• A hand written covering letter

Please note that failure to return all the above requested documents will result in your application not being considered.

Please note it is not necessary to send a copy of the documents in the post if you choose to submit your documents via email.


Time Frame

Unfortunately due to the high volume of applications that we receive from applicants wishing to obtain a training contract with Leigh Day & Co, we are unable to reply to each candidate individually. Therefore if you have not been contacted by us by Friday 13th April 2012 this will mean that unfortunately on this occasion your application has been unsuccessful. Please also note that we are unable to provide feedback on applications.

Candidates shortlisted to attend an initial interview will be notified week commencing 2nd April 2012 and the first round of interviews are scheduled to take place week commencing 16th April 2012.

Candidates will be notified week commencing 30th April 2012 as to whether or not they have been successful in being invited to attend a second interview. The second round of interviews are scheduled to take place on Thursday 3rd May 2012.

Candidates will be notified week commencing 7th May 2012 as to whether or not they have been successful in securing a Training Contract with Leigh Day & Co to start in September 2013.
