The BBC and local media have reported that a number of former staff members at Christ’s Hospital School in Horsham, West Sussex, have been arrested as part of an investigation into alleged abuse at the boarding school.
Three men have been questioned over allegations of serious sexual abuse in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
The arrests were carried out earlier this year, and the men have been released on bail until 15 December.
A spokesman for Christ's Hospital said: "Christ's Hospital takes its moral and legal obligation to safeguard pupils very seriously.
"The school is aware that arrests have been made in relation to some non-recent allegations and is co-operating fully with police investigations."
Institutional abuse claims lawyer Alison Millar said:
“I encourage anyone who believes they suffered sexual abuse as a pupil at boarding school to contact the police, and also to speak to any one of a number of support groups, such as the National Association for People Abused in Childhood, or the Survivors Trust, that exist to support survivors of abuse.”
