Tina is recognised by her peers as an expert in consumer law and product safety claims. She represents individuals who have suffered catastrophic injuries and losses including those relating to defective products, cosmetic products/treatments, defective sports equipment, and medical devices.
Tina has significant experience in medical device claims and assists in the management of a team of lawyers in the ASR hip litigation representing over 600 claimants against DePuy International Limited where many have suffered permanent, life changing disabilities. She represents individual claimants in the group with the most serve injuries including those who have undergone Girdlestone procedures or where complex causation issues arise.
Tina also leads a team in representing individuals a separate group action relating to the Profemur hip prothesis which failed prematurely and caused individuals to require early revision surgery. Additionally, Tina represents individuals who have suffered injuries from failed Knee replacements and Glucose Monitoring Devices.
Tina leads the team that act on behalf of a number of individuals who have suffered injuries from the use of cosmetic products and cosmetic procedures. She has successfully negotiated settlements with various cosmetic clinics, salons and manufacturers and recent successes include:
- Representing a claimant who underwent revision surgery for a gastric band failure
- Recovering compensation for a young client who required intensive care treatment following an anaphylaxis reaction to PPD in hair dye
- Pursued a successful Methylisothiazolinone (MI) claim against cosmetic giant Clarins
- A claim against a salon following facial burns and dermatological problems following an LED facial
- Recovering compensation for a client who suffered serious burns and permanent scarring to her face following laser hair removal
Defective sports equipment
Tina represents individuals who have suffered severe injuries from the use of defective sporting and gym equipment including defective bikes. She is a believer in promoting safety in sports to protect players from harm and injury.
Tina was in the team of lawyers acting in the high profile case of Natasha Ednan-Laperouse which led to change in the food labelling laws in the UK.
Tina is experienced in Alternative Dispute Resolution and is a specialist negotiator; she always seeks to go the extra mile for her clients to recover the maximum damages.
Before joining Leigh Day in 2011, Tina trained and qualified in a regional firm where she represented individuals in both civil and commercial litigation matters, personal injury, and provided representation at inquests. She has been involved in a number of high-profile claims including the ‘Toxic Sofa’ claims against the Home Retail Group. She has experience of representing clients who have suffered from serious life changing injuries including brain injuries, spinal injuries and amputations as a consequence of RTAs, accidents in the workplace or injuries arising from public liability. She has run several claims through to trail in both the County Court and High Court.
Tina is an advocate for promoting consumer safety; she regularly comments on the requirement for greater regulation and transparency particularly in the cosmetic and food industry.
She is secretary of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyer's costs and funding Special Interest Group.
