Tina Patel is a rising star. – Legal 500 2020
The service I received was excellent, it couldn't have been bettered – Client of Tina Patel
Tina is an associate solicitor in Leigh Day’s product safety and consumer law department. She is an experienced litigator who specialises in defective products, cosmetic injury and food safety claims including representing families at inquests.

Tina’s niche is in representing consumers who have suffered injuries from the use of cosmetic products and cosmetic procedures. She is currently pursuing a group claim against The Boots Company PLC on behalf of a group of women who have suffered facial burns from use of a hair lightening product. Past successes include claims for failed gastric bands, anaphylaxis reactions to PPD in hair dye, Methylisothiazolinone (MI) claims and LED/Laser treatment claims. These include settlements negotiated with various cosmetic clinics, salons and manufacturers including cosmetic giant Clarins and the global pharmaceutical company Allergan.

Tina also co-manages a team of lawyers in the ASR hip litigation representing over 600 claimants against DePuy International Limited where many have suffered permanent, life changing disabilities. She represents individual claimants in the group with the most serve injuries including those who have undergone Girdlestone procedures or where complex causation issues arise.

Tina was also involved in the high profile case of Natasha Ednan-Laperouse which led to change in the food labelling laws in the UK.

Tina is experienced in Alternative Dispute Resolution and is a specialist negotiator; she always seeks to go the extra mile for her clients to recover the maximum damages. She is an advocate for promoting consumer safety; she regularly comments on the requirement for greater regulation and transparency particularly in the cosmetic and food industry.

Before joining Leigh Day in 2011, Tina trained and qualified in a regional firm where she represented individuals in both civil and commercial litigation matters, personal injury, and provided representation at inquests. She has been involved in a number of high profile claims including the ‘Toxic Sofa’ claims against the Home Retail Group, as well as a claim against Microsoft for the supply of allegedly faulty consumer products.

Tina is an accredited Senior Litigator with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and is recognised as a rising star by the Legal 500.
