East London GP charged with 118 sexual offences

According to a report in the Guardian newspaper an East London based GP has been charged with 118 sexual offences including the sexual assault of a child under the age of 13.

Manish Shah was first arrested in 2013 and has been bailed several times before being charged following a long-running investigation by specialist detectives from Scotland Yard’s sexual abuse command.

According to the Guardian the Metropolitan police said Shah is accused of 65 counts of assault by penetration, 52 allegations of sexual assault and one count of sexual assault on a child under 13.

The offences were alleged to have occurred at a GP practice between June 2004 and July 2013 and relate to 54 victims. He is due to appear at Barkingside magistrates court on Thursday 31 August.

Shah denied all charges against him when he appeared at Barkingside Magistrates Court on Thursday 31 August. The Plea & Case Management Hearing is scheduled to take place at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 27 September 2017.
