British Cycling member, Matthew Bowker, has successfully recovered damages after he was involved a road traffic accident, which occurred on 24 March 2012, as he was cycling along Stourbridge Road, Stourbridge. As Matthew was cycling across a mini- roundabout, a driver entered the roundabout from Matthew’s left, without giving way. He collided with Matthew who was thrown from his bicycle and suffered personal injury, damage to his bicycle and other consequential losses. Liability for the accident was admitted by the defendant and Matthew received compensation for his injuries and the damage to his bicycle. Matthew was represented by cycle injury specialist solicitor Faqir Nawaz.
British Cycling member Joanne Attenborough has received compensation after being inured in a road traffic accident, which happened on 2 July 2011, as she was cycling along A6 toward Cromford, Derbyshire. As she was cycling along the A6 towards Cromford a vehicle, which was initially, on Joanne’s approach, parked towards the left hand side of the road, suddenly and without warning attempted to make a U-turn in the road. The vehicle pulled out across Joanne’s path, causing a collision as Joanne had no time to take any evasive action. She was thrown from her bike and suffered personal injuries, damage to her bicycle and other consequential losses. Liability for the accident was admitted by the defendant and Joanne received compensation for her personal injury and the damage to her bicycle. Joanne was represented by personal injury solicitor Tamsin Keogh.
Tamsin also represented British Cycling member Stuart Harvey, who has successfully secured compensation after a road traffic accident in 2011, which happened as he was cycling along the A3024 Bitterne Road West. As Stuart was cycling along a driver who was travelling behind him, overtook him and then, without warning, made a left hand turn directly in front of him, cutting across his path. Stuart could not avoid a collision and was thrown from his bike, suffering personal injuries. His bike was also damaged and he suffered other consequential losses.
Tamsin also acted for British Cycling member, Gary Kondor, and successfully secured compensation for him after Gary was involved in a road traffic accident, which occurred on 10 October 2010, as he was cycling along the A1133. As Gary was cycling along the A1133, whilst taking part in a tandem time trial, he approached the junction of Sandy Lane to his left. A motorcyclist came from behind and collided with the rear of his bicycle throwing Gary from his bicycle. He sustained personal injury, damage to his bicycle and other consequential losses.
