Human rights partner, Alison Millar, has been approached to act for a number of former residents of care homes run by Atlas Project Team Ltd, including Veilstone Care Home (“Veilstone”) in Devon.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) was alerted to potential problems regarding Atlas Project Team’s management of their homes following an inspection at Veilstone in October 2011. The alarm was raised when inspectors found an unheated and unsuitable ‘quiet room’ at Veilstone in which residents were detained overnight. The CQC found that this did not uphold residents’ rights to dignity, privacy and independence. More here.

The CQC inspection report has prompted a full scale investigation led by Devon County Council in conjunction with NHS Devon, Devon Partnership Trust and Devon and Cornwall Police.

If you would like to speak to a solicitor about the legal issues relating to care provided by any Atlas Project Team homes, please contact Alison’s team on 020 7650 1241.
