Doctors' pensions FAQs

1. Can they sack me if I bring a claim? 
It would be unlawful for you to be sacked if you bring a claim.

When you bring a claim, you are automatically protected by law from any act of retaliation from your employer.

 
2. If we lose the claim, will we have to pay the legal fees of our employer/the government? 
No, unless you behave in a vexatious, abusive, disruptive or otherwise unreasonable manner, or ignore an order of the Tribunal.


3. What is my claim worth?

It is likely that those who were forced to leave their old scheme and instead join the new 2015 scheme will suffer a significant loss as a result of benefits being paid later and potentially at a significantly reduced rate.

Our current estimates are that doctors would need to invest around £20,000 extra per year on average during their working lives to make up for the pension they lose because of the changes, depending on individual circumstances.



4.How much will it cost me?

We are acting under a “no win no fee” agreement, so you don’t have to pay anything unless you win your claim. If you do win, we will charge the lower of a fixed fee of £1,500 plus VAT or 25% plus VAT (i.e 30%) of any financial benefit you receive.
