Bangladesh

In 2004, Leigh Day & Co agreed to represent Bangladeshi villagers against the organisation that said the drinking water was safe.

Bangladesh has suffered from epidemics of cholera throughout its history, it is now realing under what the World Health Organisation has described as 'The largest mass poisoning of a population in history'.

Tube wells drilled into the ground to provide drinking water safe from cholera were later found to contain naturally occurring arsenic. Unfortunately, the case came to a sad end in 2006 when the House of Lords, the highest court of the land dismissed their appeal.
