Compensation for Polish client injured in road collision

18 June 2009

Janusz Kolankowski has successfully claimed compensation after he was involved in a road traffic crash on 18 November 2005.

Mr Kolankowski was struck by a car during the course of his employment.  He had been in the UK some six months or so prior to the crash and was intending to remain in the UK to live and work.

As a result of the collision, Mr Kolankowski sustained a serious hip injury. After originally being treated in the UK, he returned to Poland where he underwent various therapies.  The injury meant he was unable to work for a significant period of time and that he had to be cared for by others.

The motorists' insurers sought to deny liability and that remained their position until the conclusion of the case. There were then issues raised by the Defendant relating to Mr Kolankowski’s ongoing symptoms and time off work.

Following the issue and service of proceedings, settlement was finally agreed in the sum of £70,000 plus costs. Their initial offer was only £30,000.

I am pleased to say that Leigh Day is a reliable and professional company...the final result of their work is certain and satisfactory.  I'd recommend them for their high competence.  Janusz Kolankowski
