Supreme Court stays transfer of compensation funds

29 January 2010

Last night a stay was granted by the Supreme Court in Ivory Coast on the compensation monies ordered by the lower court to be transferred out of the Leigh Day account to Claude Gohourou's association. That will mean the money will not be transferred, certainly for the time being.

The Supreme Court will now look at the issues starting at a hearing on 8th February. Leigh Day hope to persuade the Court that the money should remain with the firm and allow us at last to complete the distribution of the compensation to each of the 30,000 Claimants. The appeal process is likely to last another few weeks.
