Elizabeth GeorgeBarrister

Elizabeth George, Barrister: Elizabeth specialises in all aspects of employment law and discrimination.

Formerly a solicitor, she transferred to the bar in 2005 (Cloisters). She has a wealth of experience in advising and acting for both employees and employers in employment tribunals and the civil courts, as well as providing support and training for various NGO’s and campaign bodies including the Equality and Human Rights Commission, National Citizens Advice Bureau, MIND, and Operation Black Vote.

Elizabeth also has a particular expertise in employee competition law and regularly acts for employees involved in County and High Court breach of contract disputes, as well as providing non-contentious advise in all aspects of employee contracts and competition.

Elizabeth has written and provided comment on a wide range employment law issues in the national press and in June 2010 was Times Lawyer of the Week after she successfully acted for a Pregnant RAF Officer expelled from the Falkland Islands.

In 2011 Elizabeth successfully acted for Mrs Doran in the Employment Appeal Tribunal (UKEAT/0369/10 Cromwell Garage Limited v Ms H Doran).  In his Judgment, his Honor Judge McMullen recorded Elizabeth’s skeleton argument as “elegant” and  “analytically responding to the points.”

Elizabeth is committed to providing practical and relevant legal advice aimed at solving (and not escalating), a problem. Her clients value her for, amongst other things, her commitment to getting a positive outcome and her clear and practical advice.
