Maria Panteli joined Leigh Day in September 1999 where she completed two years training and qualified in September 2001.
Maria has a clinical negligence background and deals with a wide range of cases involving different types of clinical negligence which encompass claims involving the delayed diagnosis of breast cancer, retinopathy of prematurity, birth injuries – child and maternal, and spinal cases. She has also acted for a number of parents whose children have died as a result of negligence, including dealing with the inquests for them.
Maria has a particular interest in medical ethics. Maria’s work includes best interest cases in the Family Division, claims for compensation by patients who have been abused by health professionals and cases involving accessing healthcare services/ treatment.
Maria is a member of the clinical negligence department and is an APIL accredited litigator, a member of AvMA and the Clinical Negligence, Brain Injury, Child Injury and Child Abuse Special Interest Groups of APIL. Maria speaks Greek and is a member of the Rizokarpasso Association, which is a charity working towards protecting the human rights of the enclaved in the occupied part of Cyprus.
She is a co-author of the APIL Guide to Evidence published in March 2011.
